"The JDK is used specifically to allow people to write Java applets for use in a Java aware browser using the 1.0 Java
Applet API. You can not build standalone applications with this
release of the JDK.
The JDK requires a Macintosh using a 68030 (or greater) or PowerPC microprocessor running System 7.5 with 8 megabytes of real memory and 7 megabytes of hard disk space. The JDK is fully
compatible with virtual memory and most third party extensions."
